These holidays our group met up and spent a couple of hours focussing on the Stanislavskian features of our scene. We wrote down our Super Task, Super Objectives for each character, Before Time and the Given Circumstances. It was hard not to dive straight into blocking the scene but we found that once we had discussed all of these elements, the actors had a clearer picture of the characters and the directors could visualise the scene and context far better. Two days ago I had a phone call from Joel telling me that Hannah was very sick and in order for our rehearsal to take place at his the following day, I would need to play Carol. I was hoping to try directing for this unit however hopefully I will be able to experience that role during another unit of work. Our rehearsal yesterday was extremely productive as Joel and I went through our scripts focussing on the Stanislavskian system, annotating all of the different units and figuring out moments for inner monologue, emotion memory etc. Then we set out the basic blocking of the scene because we knew that Sian and Hannah our directors, would be likely to change it when we returned to school. It was an exhausting rehearsal, Joel and I working all day and into the night especially since I needed to familiarise myself with my new character. We are looking forward to returning to school (by which time our lines will be learnt) and showing our directors what we have done with the scene.
